A day in the life of... 1 Year, 2 Months ago

Or more precisely "How was your day?".
Don't make this too gay but if you're feeling to lazy to make a thread about some passing rant or anecdote in your sorry daily existence, put it here [:D]
Extremely sleepy now, I made the mistake of starting a Suse linux install at 11 p.m. and finally went to bed at 3 a.m. Anyway most things are up. Don't know why I did this because Ubuntu which I am more used to is coming out with a new version in 4 days. Suse 10.2's Start Menu is the most ass-fucked menu of all time and if anyone can tell me a comprehensible way of changing it to a more sensible menu like what Windows XP or Ubuntu has, I'd be grateful. Also How does one make a shortcut to a folder?
But Amarok is a nice music app and Kaffeine's much better than the default movie player in Ubuntu.
Will spend this evening trying to get Compiz-Fusion for eye-candy. I shall die alone and unlaid.

Dont waste time on OpenSUSE . Its a mess.
Go for Ubuntu , clearer linux distro.7.04 and then upgrade to Gutsy Gibbon release 7.10 which is still in beta.

Oh I realize. I miserably failed at getting Compiz-Fusion to work properly. The Yast package manager sucks hippo gonads compared to Synaptic and I haven't figured out how to add repository links to SMART.
And the start menu is still the absolutely suckiest thing I have come across in any OS. Oh well, 3 days to Gutsy Gibbon. I'm not upgrading a Fawn install because you get raped if the net connection gives up in between.

ahh sounds similar to mine....done with one exam and another one coming up next week. And in the midst of all this IBM just offered me a full time job offer.
I had plans to go to the Sundance Film festival but damn they want me to start asap in January. SO looks like I would have to miss that. Student life is so much better :(

Returning home at 3 am after a terribly busy day at work, I decided I'd catch a few rounds of Titan Quest - and test run the uberpowerful character Chacko was kind enough to loan me before crashing out. Unfortunately my computer beat me to the punch in the crashing out deparment and wouldn't boot. Apparently my principal hard drive was disabled. After a few moments of panic — especially owing to my dad's possible reactions to all his data being lost — i set about trying to get it back to life.
Reinstalled windows on my second hard drive and was considering repopulating this install with most of the programs I use frequently (including Titan Quest) but lazyness got the better of me.
This morning, overcoming my natural diffidence of fucking around with the innards of acomputer, I opened the case, dusted the dysfuntional HD and tightened a few of the cables. Started it up and after throwing a whole bunch of 'Windows got F'd in the A the last time it tried to boot, you bitch' messages my hard drive roared back to life.
Question: Do i retain my second windows install? If not, what's the best way to get rid of it?

You get chilli ice creams? Wow, sounds sci-fi. I should ask around and try it. Does the coldness immediately alter the burning sensations in that we-humans-will-never-decipher peculiar-ish way?

Man, two friends of mine met with an accident just about two km from our college. Man, for those who have been to this part of India, you'd know how FUCKED the roads are here and how rash the drivers are. Just back from taking them to the hospital. Both are admitted; they're lucky to come out alive.
Don't do drugs. AND drink. AND THEN Drive. :|

I'm sorry for being so callous but I think these idiots deserved to die. It's an insult to the theory of natural selection that they survived. I mean, WHY did they drive after getting so bombed? I don't think it can be justified unless they had to get out because Salma Hayek was waiting for them in sexy lingerie or something.

Yeah seriously. Considering it wasn't just their stupid lives they were putting on the line, I'd be glad if these guys were at least prohibitted from driving for the rest of their lives.

damn! you guys are cold man.
Anyway, finished work, saw Aa Dinagalu again with the Panaman, had an incredibly oily Channa Bhatura at Airlines, a cup of strong coffee and listened to Monstrosity's Rise To Power at olo's which was really fucking good.
Then came back home, dinner happened, smoke happened, coffee happened again and now tired and more than a little bored. Listening to Demigod's new album and its so fucking lame. Its almost like a different band from the one that released Slumber...
I guess I should have used the now playing thread for that bit, but WTF, that's a part of my day too.
So I guess I had an allright day. Not as good as some but definately better than a few.
