Thanks ra.

The guy who's posted right above you is the drummer. Name's deepak. rahul chacko on this very forum is going to play guitars with me. Tricky thing is, both these buggers are in madras. Let's see how this goes.

I'm quite happy with the song you heard us jam really. It's called 'Romero Was Right'. We'll soon fit the bass and the rest of the shit in. Exciting.

Yeah, the only other thing that happened today was me spending time at this guys' place because he got a new audio card. I'm going to score one of these babies next month so we'll record our shit without worrying too much.

Update:

I've been surviving on Marlboro Lights, Water and Pasta that tastes like the blandest of the blandest for the last odd one month. The French Cheese flavored Lays tastes like shit now. I've been watching a lot of movies. And Blu-Ray is gonna take over the world soon, I worry about the people on other random film boards who purchased bucketloads of HD-DvDs in anticipation of the supposed change. Don't listen to music while on the move due to a near-freak accident which should have rendered me function-less.

Chucked my idea of buying Sennheiser Headphones. Want to buy a professional camera. D-SLRs. Preferably Canon or Nikon, have more preference for the former. Anyone owns a D-SLR here? I'd appreciate it if ya'll could post model nos etc. I'm worried about how much they'll cost. I always had a distaste for anything second hand.

chacko's birthday was the most eventful thing to happen of late.beachhouse party at ECR = pure win. due to some fuckups, chacko wasn't as surprised as the party-throwers would've expected him to be but I suppose the presence of videep and meself did perplex him a bit. i met videep after AGES. lots of beer, some good music and BINGO CHIPS!!! TOOIIIINNN!!

Yesterday, a holiday for us all, was productive musically.

My bass player was taking an evening bus to Shabari Mala and he wanted to jam once before he left. He turned up at around 1pm. We've have now nailed the 12 minute epic 2nd song (Romero Was Right) and we're quite happy with the way the riffs come and go. I like this more than the first song.

The first song meanwhile, (The Crowking) came out moderately well but we're still losing the time during a couple of parts - this 3 notes per string harmony bit and the super fast thrash/crossover riff. Everything else is under control. We should be able to nail this with help from a metronome.

Then I taught him the all the riffs for the 3rd song (Squeeze The Trigger). This is supposed to be the more conventionally structured song with a regular song length. Plus most of this is in 4/4 and it was easy to write, teach and nail. Phew.

GK came over in the evening and came up with some nice vocal lines for this song. This song is set. The bugger needs to get himself a mic so I can crank it up and still hear him.

Later at night, chax sent me a rough recording of what he was working on. Interesting stuff, this should be made into an asskicker soon. So, all put together we've got six songs (+ a one riff instrumental of mine) in the works. Recording shall begin soon.

I suspect knopfler at RSJ forums could help you with this. He gave me some decent advice when I was going to get my digi-cam...economy model, so I can't help you.
If someone can get that camera for you from Dubai or Singapore it would come significantly cheaper.

And Blu-Ray is far from taking over the world. Hi-Def total (BR + HD-DVD)as of now accounts for less than 1% of all DVD sales. And unless everybody decides to go in for large screens and component/HDMI cables in their living room, the ratio is not expected to change dramatically for a good long while. Btw, did you check out that latest clip I linked in the youtube vids thread?

No fuckups to speak of, really. It was quite a hitch-free operation, as far as duping me was concerned. Of course, I was being fairly oblivious, so it wasn't a major chore. But major props to the bosses for rounding up all my other friends in Chennai (who amounted to a grand total of 2) with the help of deepak and olo, despite not being very familiar with the guys. It was quite a blast, overall.

@ForbiddenEvil: A Canon 400D was what I settled for after researching all over the net, but then the price-tag almost jolted me. So I might settle for the 350D which is cheaper. Staunchly decided I don't want Nikon since I prefer Canon lenses, albeit slightly expensive, but I hear they are better in the long run. Also the norm is no one swings both ways, it's either Canon or Nikon for life. Do you own one btw? If yes, what type of lenses do you tug along?

@ravenus: The internet knows all. You have to seek earnestly. :P
Saw the video just now and found it funny. I really think Blu-Ray would beat HD-DvD in the long run. No?

Well, Reds are a bit too harsh on my throat, hence it feels like the early stages of cancer. I like 'em a little smooth, though dislike anything Ultra Light.

Dull dull dull...

Finished work in the afternoon and found out about a Rambo 4 preview. So drove through heat and a long fucking jam to book tickets which I got and felt elated about, only to go back to Inox later to find out that it's been cancelled because they haven;t got the prints yet. Full on bummer.

Now debating between rewatching No Country For Old Men or reading a manga i bought today. Think i'll do both and bunk work tomorrow.

Later

Got up at 3 am because of dogs barking and finally set set out to fix the computer which has been down since some 4 days back. Removed and refit all the connections and got it running. Keeping fingers crossed now.

so, what's the Marlboro obsession anyway? :P
Wills Navy Cut FTW!

work's pretty much dominated my schedule of late.that and classes. no new music in quite a while either. quite depressing, really.

on the upside, the Samsung assholes finally agreed to replace my DVD writer which has been inoperative for about 2 months now. just in time too. I'm almost out of disk space.

@ravi - oi, can you pick up a Maiden ticket (the 1500 one) for me?has chacko asked you already?I don't think the Planet M here is peddling them and I'm too chicken to try Ticketpro.

Today has been the most fucking awesome day I can recollect in a LONG, LONG time. I passed a very vital exam, got some fucking AWESOME CDs in the mail (AND a brilliant Morbid Angel tee) and fixed up a phone interview with Matt Johnsen of Pharaoh.

YEAH!
