Don't ask me how I got this. I've owned this one for quite a bit, and despite the interesting title I've been reluctant to touch it for reasons even Dr. Phil couldn't explain (there's a little Dr. Phil fan in all of us). Over the last few weeks here in the hostel, due to boredom which non-hostelites don't even have a chance of understanding, I was digging through my uber kvlt comic stash (harr!) and singled this one out. It's one of those things which you've had for a very long time and then suddenly find out is actually very useful and doesn't just take up space (like that phone number of your old childhood female neighbour friend). OK, I'm not bragging, but I have a fair idea of the varied forms of pornography that people indulge in - acting-wise and viewing-wise... but this one tore me a new one! Cynthia Petal's Really Fantastic Alien Sex Frenzy, which was put out by Eros Comics (who released other GREAT titles like Adult Frankenstein, Tijuana Bibles, Aunts In Your Pants, Slut Girl and the very disturbing, Omaha The Cat Dancer), was my first affair with Dave Cooper. He seems to be a really twisted fuck, writing and illustrating br00talz and sik comics for ze sickos!11 out there. No really - just check out his other works, which I have read about(material, which I am yet to read):
Dan and Larry in: Don't Do That - Features a young drake, Dan, being eroticized by the older Drake, Larry. Larry eventually rapes Dan, and get this, both their pants are on the whole time! (just like the Kannada movies!).
Puke And Explode - I don't know anything about this, but come on, how can you miss out a comics called Puke And Explode??
Suckle - the story of a child who is confronted by strange, sexualized horror in the future. (I hope the future doesn't have too many Michael Jacksons)
After reading the Wiki article in his name (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Cooper), I was considerably miffed that I hadn't read any material by this multi-talented Harvey Award nominee before this one. This comic is about, you guessed it, one Ms. Cynthia Petal. Is there sex involved? You bet! Are there Aliens? Hell yes! Is it a frenzy? Wait for it... Damn right! Yeah yeah...it's fantastic too! Since the title itself gives out this much of information, there isn't much more to the comic.
The story goes something as follows. Cynthia Petal comes home from work to find two slimy, tentacled, presumably green, alien beings inside her house. They are devoted to giving her as much pleasure as she wants. After injecting her through one of their tentacles, with a strange, dense tonic, they assure her that she will be very relaxed and horny for a considerable amount of time. As she proceeds to pleasure herself in the bathtub JUST as soon as the tonic is in her bloodstream, the aliens conjure up anything she desires - be it a a cup o' coffee, a cigarette or a cucumber! Soon, whatever Cynthia thinks of comes to reality in her one bedroom apartment, be it leading pop singer, Mandy Wet, or the local super hero - Terrific Guy. Soon, their thoughts manifest into the actual things as well. In totallity, a full bloodied orgy ensues, complete with beverage('Tasty Beer' and 'Liquid Joy') and food (Burgers and Fries from Ned's Yummy Crub). But there is an actual story in the midst of all this random sex. Quite a decent one too I might add. Each room Cynthia goes into, in her apartment, newly-filled with people and aliens, she notices that some of the aliens suddenly become quiet, as if they don't want her to listen to what they were talking about. But due to all that sexual energy, she couldn't give a rat's ass about all that...
If I were to sum this comic in two words, for say, a prestigious magazine/newspaper to use, It'd be like this: 'Strikingly Different' - Kaustubh Thirumalai ('Pretentious' - said the New York Times). The artwork is very unique - bold, black and white, and vividly detailed. The artwork is a valiant amalgamation of class and sleaze. The classy parts contain well depicted faces with some wicked hair styles, perfect 'in-the-box' type of drawing, great attention to backgrounding, superb shading, near-perfect drawings of inanimate objects such as lighters, very imaginative character portrayals etc. The sleaze, well - thick squiggly sketches of, ahem, liquids, lots and lots of beer bottles, the awesomely humorous aliens (and their 'politically correct alien schlongs'), very un-Playboyish exposé of genitalia, hairy bodies, pimples, sweat, broken teeth and general gritty, oozing, slime. The comic made for a satisfying read and would definitely qualify for more than timepass. This would make a worthwhile read, if not an enjoyable one, for any comic reader (except for the super hero geeks probably).
