Nekked chix; correction: hawt, nekked chix who eat flesh, lay eggs, murder and want nothing but sex from you = Massive Win.
Issue Numero Uno kicks off with the Luna brothers introducing Ethan Daniels. He's the average, run of the mill (not to mention sex deprived) guy who works at the local convenient store at Pennystown, which is the oh-so normal American town. Recipe for disaster you say? Indeed, I say. After a tad too much to drink, Ethan goes berserk at the local bar, letting his frustrations loose (Preacher anyone?). This is probably a direct consequence due to a flirtatious girl confessing that she was merely being 'nice' to him and wasn't at all interested in him (PWNT). He is then kicked out embarrassingly by the sole police officer in charge of Pennystown (you'd think they'd have more than one…). At the same time a mysterious explosion is heard, but nobody bothers about it too much. Dejected and withdrawn, Ethan drives back home. On the way back, he halts midway through the journey, as he sees a cold, naked, helpless and most importantly, vulnerable female standing in the middle of the road. All she can say is 'She Killed Ma'. Ethan doesn't have any bad intentions…. yet. He takes her (it?) home, and tries to help her. One thing leads to another, and Ethan ends up having sex with the mysterious lady (she does sort of 'egg' him on though), and its nothing but pure bliss for our virgin protagonist. The next day he wakes up to hear his dear sex buddy retching in the bathroom. The sensitive Ethan decides to help her out. As he opens the door he is shocked to find that the nice girl he brought home the day before was actually an egg-laying freak! She's already laid a dozen! Oh noes! And then those eggs start to hatch producing a fresh batch of serial killing, flesh eating girls(though he doesn't know that yet), who like to have sex(boy, does he know that). The girls then go on a rampage, attacking all the women of the city, and trying to have sex with the men. This is how the series starts off. It then bursts into a story filled with some really cool gore, loads of comic violence, attention-snatching story lines, weed (w00t), sex, and strangely, love (eww). Throw in a giant dome encompassing the whole city, a giant sperm which eats human corpses and grows bigger, and a crazy old lady for good measure.
A pretty decent start, I might say. The artwork on Girls is moderately nice. Nothing to get your pants wet about (pun intended), but at the same time it kind of fits the whole theme. Although, I felt that Jonathan or Joshua, whoever draws the stuff, was a tad better in Ultra, but you have to give it to the guy for drawing those eye-catching hotties. Some of the gore scenes were hilarious due to some bad artwork though (s'all good I suppose). The story holds its own and made for a thoroughly enjoyable read, complete with bouts of humour here and there. It's basically a metaphor which brings out the age old concept, the battle of the sexes. You'd find out what I'm talking about when you see the women of Pennystown locking all the men and making them their slaves and when the men in turn leave them to get eaten by the flesh eating women by tying them up. Heh. All in all this is highly recommended fare for horror aficionados who like anything to do with zombies and the like.
Interesting Fan Mail I Encountered:
"I Like Girls.
"Dear Girl Talk, I just wanted in the back of the book."
"Thanks for publishing my message on number five. My favourite number."
- Mauro Piz, Italy Jonathan: "I hope you like number eight too!" {Wtf? Retardo again? I'm sure he's technologically manipulating the brothers! Refer here}
"Hi, I'm sorry this is so late but I had to take my fifth grade class to science camp. Blah, blah, blah. Do you guys watch Lost? The mystery of the show always reminds me of the way you craft your stories."
