Really ? You think Rajan knows that his band ripped off a hip hop outfit for their album title ? I think scotty's session must happen soon to break the news.
Amoral is quite brilliant. I love the relatively dirty sound especially since it would have been easy to give this album a super clean modern production. The guitar playing is superb and after a long while some really classy lead playing.
Also, Pig Destroyer's Phantom Limb is one destructive motherfucker of an album.

Played the Blotted Science, Sheavy, The Hidden Hand, Witchcraft and the 2006 Anata in the last two days. Spent most of the time watching films so I could only sneak these in.

marduk - rom 512
This one's really grown on me. They've slowed down a lot on this album. Nothing like their norsecore days. And clean vocals. From Marduk. Good shit.

never really got around to listening to the new releases by any of the black metal greats. Although I'd advice staying away from Ad Majorem Gloriam Sathanas.
Mystifier - Thus Demystifier Spoke
Really good black metal from brazil

Amoral - Reptile Ride: Lot of spins happened so far. Playing some of the older ones too, but the new one's my clear favourite.
Witchcraft - The Alchemist: Great early hard rock sounding fare.
Slavior - Slavior: Zonder impresses, even though a lot of the songs are mediocre. Main faults are shoddy songwriting and an underwhelming guitarist. Favourite songs are the reggae 'Dove' and the longish 'Red Road'.
Blotted Science - Machinations of Dementia: More Jarzombek madness. Webster kills it as well and that Zeleny bugger's not too bad, either. Great for an all-out sonic assault, but Spastic Ink pips it by a narrow margin. Must be the vocals.
Origin - Echoes of Decimation: Short and brutal. Not bad for a change, but not anything I'd go back to frequently.
Extol - The Blueprint Dives: I was expecting standard melo-death, but it ended up sounding a lot different. The vocalist sounds like the Green Carnation bugger every now and then, which is a great thing. More spins will definitely happen.
Taint - Secrets and Lies: Dirty, long-winded, occasionally subtle and almost always captivating. Great stuff.
Sun Caged - Artemisia: Very cool modern prog metal. Songs generally go on for a bit longer than you'd expect, and the melodies lean less towards the immediate catchiness than most of the other bands in the genre. Some insane lead playing courtesy of Marcel Coenen, and all fitting nicely into the songs, to boot.
Grand Magus - Wolf's Return: Great straightforward ass-kicking heavy metal. J.B's voice has an outstanding timbre, I only wish some of the vocal lines were a little better constructed.

Isis - SGNL>05
Like waves. Some incredibly dangerous and threatening to sweep you away, some brutal and threatening to smash into you, some so mellow and light you'd barely feel them....
And those 2 exodus albums I reviewed. Heard Tempo after ages actually and I think its held up really well in the three years since its release.

Been hearing the very weird and frustrating Gambling with the Devil by Helloween. I wish this album would be either a mediocre pop album that liberally references Abba or a kickass power metal album that sounds heavier and more aggressive than Dimmu Borgay's latest (Okay not much of an accomplishment but this is Helloween we are talking about). Instead of schizophrenically switching between the two, often at times very detrimental to a song. Anyway this deserves a full review and should get one by tonight.

C-187 - Collision
Three listens since last night and this is quite addictive. Patrick Mameli, Tony Choy, Sean Reinert along with a multistyle (hardcore/growl/near-rap/singing) vocalist from Sweden. Mameli's first output since Pestilence disbanded. Lots of ass kickery. The most unconvincing bits so far about the album is when the vocals go nigga over the technical distorted jazz chords. Get this everyone.

Isis - Mosquito Control
Isis - Sawblade
Isis - Red Sea
The first three Isis eps are something else. Coming across like a slowed down meshuggah channeled through some Nuerosis with some Streetcleaner era Godflesh. Quite powerful and quite unique.
Isis - Oceanic Remixes
A sprawling tribute to Isis, the songs off Oceanic are given a cold industrial, ambient, noise vibe by a whole bunch of people most of whom I've never heard of before. The highlight is Justin Broadrick's take on Hym tucked away at the end of disc 2.

Heard Nursery Cryme by Genesis. Spectacular and whimsical. The sort of little noodling bits Hackett addds are fantastic.

Basically repeat listens.
Blotted Science. I think I like as much as the other Jarzombek stuff. Maybe it's the bass. Spastik Ink goes into the Tom & Jerry's metal soundtrack territory that this one doesn't. I like that too, just mentioning it because it gives this a different flavour. Insane shit.
Taint, again. Man I love it when they fuse the 70s influences with post-metal jamming sensibilities. There's a song which sounds like Tull jamming with a post-metal band. Damn good album.
C-187. Fucking good. I'm ok with the nigga moments the vocalist has too.
Witchcraft. I like it a hell lot. The review is done, will post soon after some cleanup.
