I had a bizarre dream about being recruited into the postmortem version of Frank Zappa's band. He was about to explain to me the secrets behind his genius; when I was woken up by a loud high frequency greeting, which turned out to be my mom wishing me a happy birthday. Thanks, mom.

Probably Vader or Vomitory. Just to play guitars for those insane vocalists.

Maybe Epica. Just to oggle at Simone Simmons all day. :P

Some crazy band like Weedeater - except that I might not live up to their lifestyle. Would also love to play rhythm guitars for one of my guitar heroes just to keep watching them in action and seeing how they work.

definitely NEVERMORE,to figure out what goes into writing those riffs and how the vocal lines are laid over them,and they could use a permanent guitarist who sees no shame in having no creative control haha..

Either AC/DC or Black Sabbath or Rush or Zep or Cream...definitely one of the classic motherfuckers

Metal would probably be Cannibal Corpse or Carcass or Dark Tranquillity etc

I still harbour irrational dreams of Robert Trujillo dying in a "tragic accident" and James Hetfield asking me to handle bass duties.

I'd like to play rhythm guitars for Immolation just for a chance to see Bob Vigna in action and to see how he comes up with those fucking insane riffs.

Ha! You'd probably end up with tendonitis. That's what happened when Incantation's guitarist is supposed to have filled in for Vigna on tour sometime. And dude, Metallica? Aim higher! If you'd said Cannibal Corpse or Trujillo on Suicidal Tendencies or Infectious Grooves, there'd have been some merit...

Two factors:

1. I'm not anywhere near good enough to pull off the basslines on ST/IG (not unless I do a lot of hard work and quite frankly, I'm not that guy)
2. Fanboy-ism. You know how it works.

I'd like to play second guitar in a band like King's X, where I don't have to improve my chops too much to play their songs, but it's still an awesome blast rocking it out.

Second guitar in Communic would be fantastic as well.

Finally, like olo, I'd want to play rhythm for heroes like IA and Bumblefoot - they seem like great guys to hang out with, so it's win-win.

It should at least be a treat to watch 'Still the Same Kind of Monster' where they show footage of the Mayo Boy's audition. Our man deciding to ride his Bajaj Pulsar in the rain to show them how cool a biker he truly is, then walking in with his pink bass and lecturing them non-stop about how he hates Opeth, without actually playing anything.
