This thread discusses the Content article: Dashavataram
Damn. This sounds awesome. Is ignorance of Tamil going to impede enjoyment?

^ you don't need subtitles to enjoy stuff like his Dubya and Duke Nukem avatars but there is a lot of crackling dialogue which may get lost. But taking srikanth along should fix that.
Dunno about Bangalore, but here some of the more expensive multiplexes have english subtitled prints playing.
Great review btw .. this was just a mindblowing experience.

I got in the theatre about 20 minutes late. And I tried my best to understand what the fuck was going on. I soon realized that the film makers have abolsutely gone berserk. I was completely frustrated by the film. But the last half hour was a total laugh riot and in the climax *SPOILER - if you care* when Lo Wang screams "oh, tsunami, run"...that was something else!
The review mentioned Kanadiga Cop..wasn't he telugu?

I was just thinking of how this film may connect with the original Dashavatar legend:
The first character is hung-up with fish hooks and dumped into the sea - Matsya
You have the environmentalist Dalit who keeps moaning about saving the Earth Mother - like Varaha, who saves the Earth Mother from Hiranyaksha.
Any other connections that may be drawn?

I don't know - Is there's a sly character that has gujju women in love with him? What about unlimited length saree flowing out of his palm only a little too late, and the movie is already setup for an epic battle? Is there also a supporting role Balaram equivalent who declined to participate in the battle? What about the Kalki equivalent? Was he responsible for the Pralaya aka Tsunami?

If the review was a prank I'm not at all amused.
If the 5/5 rating was for camp value then you could have mentioned it.
If it wasn't and you genuinely thought this deserved a 5/5 then i don't really know what to say but....
My head is throbbing and i feel strangely numb.
I've OD'd on Kamal Hassan.
If I don't make it through this night,
My ghost will forever haunt you. Allright!!!

Thank God! I am the outsider in this forum and I had the feeling that this was some kind of a prank. But I was not sure. So the "if you are cool, watch this" and "go see this right now or lose forever your claim to heterosexuality." are supposed to be the hints, is it?? :P

Duh. What was to not like about the movie? I'm sincerely puzzled since I liked it a great deal.

What can I say? You folks don't deserve art. And what's up with tell us if it's camp? What, do you go back home and put on a different set of glasses to watch a camp movie? And if you read the review I DO inform most reasonable intellects that this is a chaotic and campy movie. The 4 of us who went to see the movie (me, Ravi, Balaji and Prachit) had a terrific time either laughing our asses off at the jokes and incongruities or going "whoa" at the gore factor when it occurred.
...What it is, however, is one of the most chaotic, breakneck-paced, astoundingly OTT and br00tal movies to come out in India...
It’s a patently goofy set-up with all kinds of inconsistencies in logic and tone but the film-makers realize this as well as anyone else and play to the gallery as much as possible...
Kamal’s screenplay pays homage to every variety of escapist cinema, be it Terminator 2 or the reality-altering B-grade opuses of Mithunda. The dialog flies fast and furious with jokes, most of which twang right on the funnybone, unless you’re a pompous upper-class twit that titters behind half-nibbled scones. The campy setups and the use of CGI for effects far more ambitious than the budget add to the indigenous flavor of this heady brew...

I will also add that most of the jokes in the film were genuinely hilarious and superbly written and performed. It wasn't just all unintentional camp that people were coaxed into watching. Well, different strokes I guess.
