Interview with Sudhir Mishra 4 Years, 4 Months ago

This thread discusses the Content article: Interview with Sudhir Mishra
Downloading. +1 for making the effort and pulling this off.
Edit: Just finished listening to the whole thing. Great throughout, and if someone is kind enough and hooks me up, I'd like to see his films, including a revisit of HKA. I saw that in a bus to Bombay when it came out and wasn't paying much attention.

I'm going to be listening to this too. At the outset it looks like some of the stuff I was interested in knowing has been asked, much thanks for that. Would Sudhir make time to autograph a copy of the HKA DVD? It'd be great if you could find that out.

Fantastic interview. The way I see it there's no way something like this could happen on any so-called 'mainstream' media because of their obsession with celebrity fellatio and their pointless and arbitrary word/time limits. Terrific job done and with an admirable sense of when to reduce interviewer noise to a minimum and just let the subject do all the talking.

Any chance of a text version that I could read instead?

@ srikanth: many of his early movies aren't easily available, however, hazaaron khwaishein aisi and khoya khoya chand should be available at your local crossword/landmark/dvd store (if they do anything other than kannada movies)
@ ravenus: i'm sure he wouldn't mind autographing dvd's but his elusiveness might get in the way. nonetheless, i'll ask.
@ buggshash: i'm glad. i haven't seen dharavi and i was afraid it might end up being rather obtuse but he just explained it so well. as for autographing, please refer back to my reply to ravenus. also, i doubt if 'yeh woh manzil toh nahin' is easily available.
@ hatya: thank you! i think marshall mcluhan got it right when he said 'the medium is the message'.
@ gk and buggshash: since this interview was done for radio as well, i thought this was better heard than read. also, i'm afraid i'm a little short on time right now and so, transcribing will not be possible for a couple of weeks, at least. i'll get it done, though.

Okay okay, have it your way. But I don't know when I'll go to a mall next. You'll all just have to wait for the Final & Ultimate verdict on this guy's films till then.

Or you could just pick it up when you come to mumbai next.

For those waiting for the transcript...I'll say this. The interview is well worth hearing, sound is very clear and Sudhir's an eloquent speaker, not much time lost in pauses / hemming-hawing. It's quite a pleasure to hear him speak so articulately.
Edit: Just finished hearing. Full props for a superbly conducted interview and like Ravi said, allowing the subject the proper space to air his thoughts.

Good going. That was very interesting fare, even to someone with no prior exposure to his work.

Fabulous interview. It was a treat to listen to his clear, no bullshit responses to questions. Both Tera Kya Hoga Johnny and the Devdas inspired film sound very interesting conceptually. If both release this year, this could be another awesome year for Hindi films.
Nivy, if you need help with transcription, I can take time out to assist.

Yea, Bhalla is master from his experience of doing DVD subs. Actually I was myself considering the task...although my typing speed would suck compared to someone used to that task.

Do you have a copy of dharavi ? Since you are in mumbai I can lend you mine or burn you a copy if you need one. I would love to have an autographed copy of dharavi and HKA but it would be even more spectacular if I can just meet the man.I know 'Yeh woh manzil to nahin' is not avialable commercially for love or money . The reason I asked is because maybe Sudhir Mishra himself might be aware of some obscure label releasing the film or better still have a VHS of it lying somewhere which can be put to use. Anyways I hope Sudhir Mishra the best of success for his new film. And if and when I do get to meet him I will ask his opinion on 'Singh is KKing' and 'Rab Ne bana di jodi' ;) .
